Access Statement for The Mill at Gordleton
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 8 bed room restaurant with rooms. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-arrival
- There is a bus stop 30metres up the road from us (not a paved road), buses every 30mins during the day (Limited in the evening and on Sunday)
- Our nearest train station is Lymington Town (5 mins drive) change at Brockenhurst for the Lymington Town or come straight from Brockenhurst Station (10 mins drive).
- We have a website with photos of each guest room, most on the first floor, one halfway up the stairs – mezzanine level (Main-suite).
Arrival and car parking facilities
- There is ample free gravel car parking in our main car park and also a smaller free gravel car park at the front of the hotel where there is designated disabled parking next to the hard brick pathway.
- There are two steps into the front of the hotel.
- There are no steps at the mill side entrance, wheel chair access.
- There are a six steps from the main car park, with hand rail.
- Assistance with luggage is always offered to all guests.
- The outside areas are all well lit at night time.
Main entrance and reception
- Through main entrance in the reception area and lounge, seating by open fire, lit throughout winter and lit by candles during the summer. Bespoke furniture and sumptuously decorated with daily papers available.
- Guests escorted to rooms, freshly made tea or coffee offered and facilities explained.
Public areas – general (internal)
- Guest and public dining room and bar. The dining room is carpeted and dining room bar area is wooden floor with large rug. The front separate bar has a wooden floor.
- Carpeted throughout the hotel, all bath rooms are vinyl/tile floor.
Public areas – general (external)
- Tables service throughout the internal & external seating areas.
- The garden paths are paved with slab and the garden is lawn and boarders.
- We have two narrow wooden bridges over the two streams both fenced and railed and a tiled area over the old mill, railed.
- There are steps by the patio area down to the rivers edge to the grassy bank.
- Paving slab patio area for smoker to dine out side, metal cushioned patio furniture with brolleys.
- Smoking area with large brolly, cushioned benches and out door heater, situated next to an out door building next to the patio.
- Along the walled waters edge beyond the terrace with have tables with brolleys on either side, mostly oblong seating with one large round table.
- Garden area is a large square lawn on which we have oblong tables with brolleys and has a number of sculptures.
Restaurant, Lounge, Bar, Terrace Private and Dining Room
Table service throughout the internal & external seating areas, there is back ground music.
- Restaurant: a carpeted area with square and round tables well lit by daylight via large French windows with views of the garden. Decorated with wall art and sculptures. The ceiling is high beamed. The seats are wooded with wicker backs and upholstered.
- Restaurant bar area: Wooden floored area separated from the main restaurant area by glass partitions decorated with ornaments and sculptures. Seating can be bench seated cushioned and upholstered or seats with wicker back and also upholstered.
- Lounge: Two large upholstered seats and a sofa set next the open fire (used in winter) with an oblong ottoman for a table. The lounge is positioned with its back to the hotel reception and entrance to the toilets and main entrance.
- Front Bar: Wooden floored area with 5 x tables with 4 seats round each, some are leather. The Bar is 4m approx. long and has an opening at one end. It is situated to the right of the main front door which has two steps up.
- Terrace: A long terrace running along side our river with tables on the riverside, next to the wall. The first half of the terrace is covered at one end and has heater lamps. The rest is all out doors. The floor is slabs.
- Private Dining Room: A long table with a max of 17 people, tall upholstered armless chairs. There are 6 stone steps into the private dining room which is lower than the floor level has windows so there is a ground level view to outside.
Public areas – WC
- We have separate gents (urinal & cubical), ladies (two separate cubical loos) and a disabled loo. Tile floors throughout.

We are extremely well positioned for access to many attractions for central south England. Just a few are listed below.

Grounds and Gardens
- Our gardens are well kept and have an array of perennial plants and bushes and mature trees which include spectacular willow trees. The pots and boarders are regularly changed with seasonal bedding plants.
The river banks are kept natural to encourage and protect the habitat of wild life. Kingfisher and otter have been seen along our river banks.
Many of the trees are lit up at night time as well as the terrace area and bridges.
The gardens that feature throughout The Mill are often commented on.
- We have different sculptures by local artist displayed in the gardens.
Bedrooms 1 - 8 (including bathrooms)
All rooms are en-suite and are heated via hot water radiators (and electric heaters when necessary), all have heated towel rails in the bathrooms. There is a small kettle and selection of teas and coffee with homemade biscuits. The wardrobes contain hangers and there are sets of drawers in each room as well as bed side tables and a dressing table with seat. There is an iron and ironing board in each room. There is a bible and local information and hotel information in each room and well as additional literature. All rooms have colour with digital television. We have free Wi-Fi throughout the whole building. The room doors are lockable with a key. Large towels, hand towels and bath mats are provided. Also shower caps, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and moisturiser.
