Our famous duck Crispie was hatched on the 6th August 2007 and abandoned by her mother. Our manager, Terri Seabright, found her cold and laying on the ground, so took her home and hand reared her back to health. Crispie still lives with Terri and her husband Mike at their home, making Crispie a very domesticated duck. She is absolutely adorable and loves all the attention she receives from our team and guests.
Crispie has become a very popular member of the crew here at The Mill, so much so that we have published two children’s storybook about her. The first, Crispie The Duck – Her First Years, sees some of the proceeds from its sale go to the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital. A share of the proceeds from the sale of Crispie’s second book, Further Adventures of Crispie the Duck, will go to HART (Hampshire Art for Recreation and Therapy). Read more about Crispie’s work for charities in the local news.
